The Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. A fantastic park with about 2500 arches. Getting up early in the morning to see the sunrise over the Arches is well worth doing. Unfortunately this is also the place our breaks on the car failed when going down a hill. They did break in the end, but only after just being able to avoid another car coming in the opposite direction. Not something we want to relive.

We crossed the channel between Pico and Faial by ferry. We stayed in Horta at the Pousada de Santa Cruz, an old fortress that is now converted to a hotel and restaurant. Faial is one of the smaller islands of the Azores, but it is beautifull. Horta is small town with lots of old buildings and cobblestones. A nice place to wonder about. We had a look into the Caldera of the volcano dominating the island and also visited Capalinhos, where last volcanic eruption took place in 1957/58.

Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from A.D. 600 to A.D. 1300. Today, the park protects over 4,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States.

Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. The first stop on our trip to Patagonia. We arrived in the morning and had to leave at 5 in the morning the next day. So not much time to see the city. We took a bike tour around the city to make the most of the time we had. Seeing the city on a bike is maybe not the most obvious way to see a city, but you cover a lot of ground and it is fun.

I did go hiking on the lower parts of the volcano with snow boots and took a tour through a lava tube. Did some horse riding and a canopy tour. And there are lots of other things to do in Pucon.

Rafting on the Zambezi. One of the wildest rafting rides in the world. We flipped twice, looks good on the pictures and video. But being sucked under the raft and struggling to get some air was not that pleasant an experience. Conclusion: Zambezi Beer tastes better then the Zambezi.
